Pain Management That Starts With Listening
If you live with chronic pain, the road to our office may have been a long one. Maybe earlier doctors rushed your appointments or never seemed to understand what you were feeling. That changes here. At American Pain Institute, your pain is taken seriously, and your voice matters in every decision about your care.
We are a dedicated pain management clinic serving Portsmouth, New Hampshire and the surrounding Seacoast communities. Patients trust us for thorough, compassionate care grounded in current research and proven treatments. Whatever is causing your pain, our goal is the same: find the root of the problem and treat it so you can feel like yourself again.
A Personal Approach to Chronic Pain
Pain is never one-size-fits-all, and neither is the way we treat it. Dr. Greenspan reviews your medical history and imaging before your first visit, so your appointment starts with answers instead of paperwork. From there, he builds a treatment plan around your diagnosis, your goals, and your daily life.
Because this is a private practice with a single physician, you see the same doctor every time. There is no handing your case from provider to provider and no repeating your story to someone new. That continuity leads to better decisions and better results.
Conditions We Help Treat
Dr. Greenspan has deep experience treating pain throughout the spine, joints, and nerves, along with conditions that are often difficult to manage elsewhere. We regularly help patients dealing with:
- Chronic back pain, neck pain, and spinal stenosis
- Sciatica and other forms of nerve pain
- Arthritis, joint pain, and herniated discs
- Headaches and migraines
- Fibromyalgia
- Nerve damage and neuropathic pain
- Cancer-related pain
- Complex regional pain syndrome and neuralgia
Non-Surgical Treatment Options
Most of our patients find relief without surgery. Dr. Greenspan focuses on interventional treatments that target the source of pain directly, including:
- Joint injections to calm inflammation in the knee, hip, shoulder, and other joints
- Spinal injections such as epidural and facet injections for back, neck, and radiating pain
- Radiofrequency ablation for longer-lasting relief from specific pain-causing nerves
- Spinal cord stimulator trials for pain that has not responded to other care
- Regenerative medicine for patients seeking an alternative that supports natural healing
You can read more about each treatment on our services overview.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment is a conversation. Dr. Greenspan will go over your records, talk through your symptoms, and answer your questions before recommending any treatment. The plan you leave with is one you understand and agree with.
American Pain Institute is referral-only, so you will need a referral from your primary care or treating provider plus records and imaging for your condition. Once we review everything, most patients are seen within two weeks.
