Information for New Patients
We want your first visit to feel smooth and stress-free. This page walks you through how to become a patient at American Pain Institute, what we need from you ahead of time, and how soon you can expect to be seen. A little preparation up front means more time focused on your pain when you arrive.
We Are a Referral-Only Practice
To become a patient, you will need a referral from your current treating provider or primary care provider. We require this for everyone, even when your insurance does not. A referral helps us understand your history and confirm that our care is the right fit for your condition before your visit.
Medical Records You'll Need to Provide
Along with your referral, please send records that relate to your current pain condition. This gives Dr. Greenspan a clear picture of your situation before you ever sit down. Helpful records include:
- Notes and records connected to your pain condition
- Any imaging you have, such as MRI scans or X-rays
- Relevant test results or prior treatment history
How Scheduling Works
Every referral and set of records is reviewed before we schedule an appointment. This step ensures we are prepared to help you from day one. Here is what to expect:
- Your provider sends a referral and your medical records to our office.
- We review everything to confirm we can help with your condition.
- We reach out to schedule your first appointment.
Most patients are seen within two weeks. If your situation is urgent, let us know. We accommodate urgent appointments based on schedule availability.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment is built around understanding you. Dr. Greenspan reviews your records, listens to your concerns, and answers your questions before recommending a treatment plan. Because this is a single-provider practice, the doctor you meet on day one is the doctor you will see at every visit.
