Your Questions, Answered
Choosing a pain doctor is a big decision, and you deserve clear answers before you book. Here are the questions we hear most often from new patients at American Pain Institute. If you do not see yours, call us at (603) 766-8500 and we will be glad to help.
Yes. American Pain Institute is a referral-only practice. You will need a referral from your primary care or treating provider, even if your insurance does not require one. A referral helps us understand your history and confirm we are the right fit for your condition.
Please provide records related to your current pain condition along with any imaging you have, such as MRI scans or X-rays. We review everything before scheduling so your first visit can focus on your care.
Once we receive and review your referral and records, most patients are scheduled within two weeks. If your situation is urgent, let us know. We accommodate urgent appointments based on schedule availability.
Your first appointment is a conversation. Dr. Greenspan reviews your records, listens to your concerns, and answers your questions before recommending a treatment plan you understand and agree with.
Yes. This is a private, single-provider practice. You see Dr. Greenspan at every visit, and he personally answers calls. You never have to repeat your story to someone new.
Dr. Greenspan treats a wide range of chronic and acute pain, including back and neck pain, sciatica, arthritis and joint pain, herniated discs, nerve pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, and cancer-related pain. The focus is always on finding the source of your pain and treating it directly.
We offer a full range of non-surgical, interventional treatments, including joint injections, spinal injections, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulator trials, and regenerative medicine. Each plan is tailored to your diagnosis and goals.
We work with most major insurance plans. Because coverage varies, call our office to confirm your specific benefits. You can also learn more on our insurance page.
Some treatments, such as regenerative medicine, are not covered by insurance. For those, we offer some of the lowest cash prices anywhere, so cost is never a barrier to relief.
In most cases, no. The majority of our patients find relief through non-surgical, interventional treatments that target the source of pain. Many are able to avoid or delay surgery altogether.
